Paisley and Scott
Paisley.
Paisley is owned by BRAVEHOUND, she is a fully qualified PTSD Assistance Dog. She undergoes daily training that is consistent with the requirements of the Public Access Test (PAT). As a service dog, Paisley is tested every three months, and the PAT is conducted by an external examining body every twelve months. Paisley’s license is only valid for a twelve-month period and is renewed upon successful completion of the PAT. Paisley is constantly monitored, coached, and mentored by BRAVEHOUND as a BRAVEHOUND Assistance Dog.
Paisley’s character is one in a million, she can read Scott’s behaviours, his emotional state, his voice, and tone, she has pulled him out of two flashbacks and has a range of thirty-six cued behaviours that sustain Scott and Paisley as a 24/7 paired unit. Paisley has a firm grasp on Scott. She has a worktime and playtime routine; both are verbally cued. In work, she is exceptionally focused on fulfilling her role as an assistance dog. During playtime, she can be boisterous, verbal, funny, silly, and exceptionally playful. Zoomies are very much at the forefront of Paisley’s play ethic. She has been witnessed performing zoomies that end with a shoulder roll and full-on rolling around on sand and/or grass. She can be very vocal when she chooses and all of it is Paisley’s physical and emotional outlet. She is very inquisitive and highly social. One of Paisley’s greatest traits is how she can switch between work and play according to any situation. Her awareness and reactions are autonomous in a great many aspects.
Scott.
Scott served in the Army for twenty-seven years. During this time, he served with five infantry units for periods of two years plus with each of the five. He has served with Royal Engineers, Royal Signals, The Parachute Regiment and ISTAR Battle Group assets in support as a Logistical Support Commander, performing tasks such as local procurement in frontline units and working the supply chain from first line to fourth line and back. Scott’s very first posting after his initial training was to Five Airborne Brigade at Montgomery Lines in Aldershot. From there, he was selected for his ability to support external agencies in remote locations that would have seen him as a singleton in post on many occasions. Scott has served on operations in Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan multiple times. Clinically diagnosed, medicated, and medically retired, Scott has completed all therapies. The National Health Service (NHS) concluded treatments in 2020 with no further treatment available via COMBAT STRESS and the NHS. He was officially medically retired on the 19th of November 2021. Due to the nature of Scott’s diagnosis, Police Scotland recorded Scott as a vulnerable person. Please understand that Scott’s final medical report that a medical professor conducted is not a get-out-of-jail-free card. Having acute PTSD and being stuck in fight is not an excuse. As you can see, Paisley is Scott’s 24/7 constant, there is no requirement to resort to hyperbole, the role that Paisley performs is exceptional in every aspect.
